
What to Expect
The Deputy AD, Chief Administrative Officer “CAO” is a senior level executive overseeing the Army West Point Athletic Association Inc. “AWPAA” internal, day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, policy implementation, and alignment with AWPAA’s Fruits of Victory strategic plan. This role is responsible for bridging the gap between high-level strategy and operational reality with direct oversight of the Human Resources, NCAA Compliance, Risk Management, Insurance and Finance departments. The CAO will serve as coordinator for the AWPAA Board of Directors.
What You'll Do
40% Administrative Management
High level oversight over the Human Resources unit including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee engagement/relations. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
High level oversight over the Finance and Business Office unit including optimization of budget, resource optimization, reporting, purchasing and reconciliation functions.
Oversee Insurance and Risk Management functions to include the organization’s insurance policies, including renewal process, claims management, and directing incident response activities.
High level oversight over the NCAA Compliance unit including development and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, systems and strategies.
Serves as coordinator for the AWPAA Board of Directors on behalf of the Director of Athletics including managing administrative support, meeting coordination, document management and communication facilitation.
Direct inquiries/investigations related to human resources and/or compliance, and/or serve as liaison to USMA personnel related to any investigations.
Serves as liaison with designated AWPAA outside counsel to coordinate legal services as required including contract review.
30% Operational Leadership
Directing daily administrative operations and managing business and risk units to ensure smooth, functional performance including development of standard operating procedures.
Serve as a member of the Army-Navy Steering Committee, with specific responsibilities for the game RFP construction and oversight of game contracts with selected venues.
May serve as a sport administrator with supervision of applicable head coach(es).
20% Strategic Planning
Collaborating with the Director of Athletics and Senior Leadership Team to develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures and long-term goals.
Ensure smooth operations and alignment between administrative strategies and the organization’s strategic plan/overall goals.
Oversee strategic plan progress and reporting. Analyze operational data to identify areas of improvement and implement changes. Present data and recommendations to Director of Athletics, Senior Leadership Team and AWPAA Board of Directors.
10% Performance Optimization
Monitoring performance metrics, addressing gaps and leading change initiatives to improve productivity.
What We Can Offer
$165,000 to $175,000
This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries that AWPAA believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted position. AWPAA expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would AWPAA consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
