Assistant Flag Football Coach

Position Description

Under the direct supervision of the Head Women's Flag Football Coach, the Assistant Women's Flag Football Coach assists in the administration and operation of the Eastern University Women's Flag Football program. The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting all aspects of the program, including recruiting, student-athlete development, practice and competition preparation, film analysis, academic support, and program administration.

As a representative of Eastern University, the Assistant Women's Flag Football Coach is expected to support and advance the University's mission of preparing graduates to impact the world through Faith, Reason, and Justice, while fostering an environment that promotes academic achievement, athletic excellence, spiritual growth, leadership development, and personal integrity.

Position Responsibilities

Recruiting and Retention:
• Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with Eastern University's academic, athletic, and mission-based standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, recruits, families, and other recruiting contacts.
• Assist with recruiting communications, prospect evaluations, campus visits, and admissions processes.
• Attend recruiting events, camps, combines, showcases, and competitions as assigned.
• Collaborate with the Head Women's Flag Football Coach to achieve annual recruiting and roster management goals.
• Support retention initiatives that promote student-athlete success and persistence to graduation.
Coaching and Student-Athlete Development:
• Assist with coaching and player development during practices, competitions, and team activities.
• Help develop, organize, and implement practice plans and game preparation strategies.
• Provide position-specific instruction and skill development to student-athletes.
• Assist with game planning, opponent preparation, and competitive strategy.
• Conduct film study sessions with student-athletes to support player development and game preparation.
• Promote a culture of accountability, sportsmanship, respect, and competitive excellence.
• Serve as a positive mentor and role model for student-athletes.
Film and Analytics:
• Upload, organize, and maintain practice and competition film.
• Perform film breakdown and analysis of Eastern practices and games.
• Assist with opponent scouting and film analysis.
• Prepare scouting reports and video resources for coaches and student-athletes.
• Utilize video and analytical tools to enhance player development and team performance.
Academic Support and Student Success:
• Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress as directed by the Head Women's Flag Football Coach.
• Encourage student-athletes to utilize campus resources and support services.
• Promote academic accountability and timely progress toward degree completion.
• Assist in fostering a holistic student-athlete experience that aligns with the mission and values of Eastern University.
Program Administration and Operations:
• Assist with the coordination and administration of daily program operations.
• Support football operations, including practice organization, travel coordination, equipment management, and game-day logistics.
• Assist with scheduling, team communication, inventory management, and other operational needs.
• Support camps, clinics, fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, and community outreach activities.
• Maintain recruiting databases, video systems, and other program technology platforms.
• Support compliance with all NCAA Division III, conference, institutional, and departmental policies and procedures.
• Represent Eastern University and the Athletics Department with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
Departmental Responsibilities:
• Support and promote the mission, values, and Christian identity of Eastern University, fostering the holistic development of student-athletes through Faith, Reason, and Justice.
• Foster positive working relationships with colleagues, campus constituents, alumni, parents, and community members.
• Assist with departmental events, game management, event operations, fundraising efforts, or other assigned responsibilities based on departmental needs and individual qualifications.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Women's Flag Football Coach, Athletics Director, or their designee in support of the Athletics Department and University mission.

Status: Staff, 40 hours per week, 10 months per year.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree is required, and previous successful experience as a wrestling coach at the college/professional levels is required.
• The ability and desire to work successfully within a team-oriented department environment is required.
• A commitment to the Division III philosophy of athletics is required.
• A working knowledge of NCAA rules is required.
• A demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes is essential.
• Candidates must exhibit an understanding of and support for the University's Christian Mission.
• Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Candidates must possess an ability to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Eastern University and the Athletic Department to alumni and friends of the university.

3)      Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance and; 

4)      Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check. 

 

In accordance with state laws, Act 73 of 2007, Act 153 of 2014, Act 168 (relating to the Child Protective Services Law), school employees of Eastern University who will have "direct contact with children" must complete the background check process prior to employment.  Results must be submitted within ten days of receipt.
