
Hopkins Athletics is multidivisional department with 22 programs competing at the NCAA DIII level and two programs (men’s and women’s lacrosse) competing at the NCAA Division I level (BIG 10 Conference). The department also hosts a variety of robust recreational activities such as club sports, intramurals, and fitness programming.
The Hopkins Athletics department seeks an innovative and forward-thinking Associate Athletic Director, Facilities and Events. The Associate Athletics Director, Facilities & Events works to support the mission and integrity of the Johns Hopkins University and the Athletics Department. Demonstrating adherence to the department philosophy, facility and staff schedule, equipment and facility maintenance expectations, and communication responsibilities is essential. The strongest candidates will have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment and a strong history of building and sustaining relationships with staff, student-athletes, and coaches. The individual works to develop and formulate future plans to reach institutional and departmental goals, to lead initiatives and to create an excellent experience for our students through their participation in athletics. This leader will oversee and execute facility and event operations for a variety of internal and external events.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage Athletic facilities including day-to-day operations, scheduling, maintenance, improvements and equipment to ensure facility readiness for all users.
Oversee event management including all event staffing, security, and operations for external and internal events within the athletics and recreation footprint. This includes home contests, conference and NCAA championships, student and Hopkins community events, and external rentals.
Helps to oversee the facility budget, and generates departmental revenue through facility rentals, camps, clinics, and other events.
Directly oversees the facility and events team of 6 full time staff members as well as 20+ undergraduate interns and student staff.
Department liaison for Plant Operations and Campus Safety and Security.
Collaborate with campus partners in Student Affairs and JHFRE
In conjunction with Senior Associate Athletic Director, provides evaluation of risk factors for all department facilities in conjunction with the Office of Risk Management and General Counsel.
May potentially serve as sport administrator for varsity teams, a responsibility that includes, but is not limited to: oversight of the program, direct supervision and evaluation of head coaches, monitoring budget and NCAA compliance, and working with the head coach to facilitate an environment conducive to both academic and competitive success.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required
· Minimum of 7 years of athletics facilities and event management experience or relevant equivalent
· Experience with hiring and/or supervision of employees preferred
Key Relationships:
The Associate Athletic Director, Facilities and Events is directly supervised by the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Capital Projects and Facilities. This position will work closely with student-athletes, coaches, department staff, and other campus stakeholders.
Physical Effort/Environment:
