Job Description:
Athletics is seeking a Director of Social Media, Women’s Basketball / Media Specialist II (T0001). The chosen candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content and video production strategy for all aspects of women's basketball. This role involves creating dynamic and engaging content to promote the Longwood women's basketball team brand. The candidate will oversee and provide strategic direction for videography and graphic design projects, including features, interviews, and the team's social media accounts. They will produce creative content across video production, photography, graphic design, social media, and publications.

This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University’s campus.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the digital content strategy for the women's basketball team

  • Plan, create, and implement the social and digital strategy for the team

  • Create social content, including videos, hype videos, interviews, graphics, and photography

  • Collaborate with marketing, communications, ticketing, and advancement to execute strategies to create unique promotional content for women's basketball and student-athletes

  • Develop, create, and distribute creative content

  • Oversee all social media communication strategies through creation and implementation across all platforms

  • Initiate and coordinate television, radio, digital, and print media for important events and announcements

  • Work directly and collaboratively with the Longwood University Office of Marketing and Communications Manager and recruit communications staff, including student employees

  • Serve as a liaison to the Big South Conference where appropriate

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Communications/Digital Media preferred

  • Ability to work nights and weekends

  • Experience working in creative and / or digital media

  • Knowledge of the Abode suite applications (photoshop, premiere)  

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, temporary wage, non-exempt position in pay band 3. Hours will be limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours maximum per work year. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required.
