About the Department and/or College

Major/Essential Functions

 

• Install, configure, maintain, and support applications, operating systems, and endpoint devices utilized by Athletics employees, coaches, staff, student-athletes, and within Athletics facilities. Perform software deployments, security patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management as required.

• Serve as a manager of Athletics IT hardware and software inventory. Maintain accurate records of equipment assignments, custodians, locations, warranties, and asset lifecycles. Obtain, archive, and manage all required departmental and University documentation related to technology assets.

• Manage the inventory, preparation, deployment, collection, and support of student-athlete technology devices. Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained, and devices are properly configured, secured, and documented prior to distribution and upon return.

• Provide technical support for Athletics facilities, including audiovisual (AV) systems, digital signage, displays, video conferencing equipment, presentation technology, sound systems, and related infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure reliable operation of departmental technology resources.

• Support athletic competitions, special events, and departmental functions by providing on-site technical assistance before, during, and after events. Assist with the setup, operation, monitoring, and teardown of technology systems, including networking, scoring and timing systems, replay systems, streaming equipment, digital displays, audio systems, and other event-related technologies as assigned.

• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and event personnel to ensure technology systems are properly configured and operational for practices, competitions, meetings, recruiting functions, and special events.

• Communicate clearly and effectively with management, coaches, staff, student-athletes, vendors, and team members to provide exceptional customer service and ensure timely completion of projects, operational tasks, and support requests.

• Research, evaluate, and remain current on emerging technologies, cybersecurity practices, and industry trends. Serve as a technical resource and consultant to the department by providing recommendations, guidance, and solutions that support departmental goals and operational efficiency.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, inventories, and knowledge base resources to support operational continuity and effective technology management.

• Participate in an on-call, after-hours, weekend, and event support rotation as required to maintain critical Athletics technology systems and services.

• Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects assigned by management.

• Comply with all NCAA, Big XII Conference, Texas Tech University, and Athletics Department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in a related field plus three years related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal seven years.

 

This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Minimum of 3 years of experience. All related experience will be considered.

• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the athletics calendar.

• Intermediate level analytical skills, including process description, logic, problem diagnostics, and problem solving.

• Intermediate technology hardware and software competency.
