Thiel College seeks a dynamic and visionary Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach to lead its NCAA Division III men's and women's tennis programs. This is a full-time, 12-month position that reports directly to the Director of Athletics. The Head Coach is responsible for providing leadership, organization, supervision, and instruction for all aspects of the tennis programs while promoting the holistic development of student-athletes as leaders on and off the court.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·       Direct and oversee all aspects of the men's and women's tennis programs, including daily operations, practice planning, player development, match preparation, and team culture development.

  • Serve as a teacher, mentor, and role model for student-athletes in alignment with Thiel College’s mission and the values of Thiel Athletics.

  • Recruit, retain, and graduate quality student-athletes while consistently meeting or exceeding established roster and enrollment goals.

  • Develop and implement a strategic recruiting plan that expands the program’s reach, visibility, and competitiveness.

  • Monitor academic performance, personal development, and overall student-athlete experience.

  • Build and maintain a competitive schedule in collaboration with the Director of Athletics.

  • Manage the program’s operating budget with integrity, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.

  • Coordinate and lead fundraising initiatives, including alumni engagement and donor relations, in support of program growth.

  • Promote community engagement and service initiatives involving student athletes and staff.

  • Mentor, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches, fostering a culture of professional development and accountability.

  • Serve as a positive representative of Thiel Athletics through campus engagement, game-day administration responsibilities, and facility oversight.

  • Ensure full compliance with all NCAA Division III, Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC), and institutional rules and regulations.

  • Contribute to departmental goals related to recruiting, retention, fundraising, and student-athlete success.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful collegiate Tennis coaching experience.

  • Demonstrated ability in program leadership, recruiting, player development, and team culture building.

  • Strong commitment to the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive team culture aligned with NCAA Division III philosophy.


Performance Expectations:

Head Coaches are expected to meet established performance standards that support the mission and sustainability of Thiel College Athletics. These expectations include achieving assigned recruiting and roster targets; maintaining retention benchmarks; fostering a positive student-athlete experience; demonstrating competitive progress appropriate to program tenure; engaging alumni, parents, community partners, and supporters; contributing to program and departmental fundraising initiatives; and supporting community engagement efforts. Head Coaches are also expected to develop and execute an annual program calendar that outlines recruiting activities, competition schedules, fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, academic monitoring, and team development plans.
