Assistant Director, HRRM

Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Associate A.D., HRRM, position supports key functions within Human Resources and Risk Management, with emphasis on recruitment (full-time / part-time / student), background checks, training, and reporting. This role frequently collaborates with internal units, campus human resources, and external partners in supporting the overall human resources operations of the organization.  Position often requires working with confidential information independently and in a variety of administrative functions while implementing and maintaining administrative policies and procedures. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborates with hiring managers and search committees through the talent acquisition process for full-time and part-time staff, to include advertising, screening / assessment, and interviews

  • Collaborates with unit managers in the advertising and selection process for student employment, to include both OPS and FWS positions

  • Collaborates with unit managers in the onboarding and documentation of program volunteers.

  • Coordinates the background check process for full-time / part-time recommended candidates and volunteers.  Contacts recommended candidates and monitors third party system to ensure all information is submitted in a timely fashion.  Communicates results with leadership where appropriate

  • Assists with Athletics onboarding process for new staff members, with emphasis on part-time / student support

  • Manages the collection and organization of data related to commercial insurance policies within athletics.  Assists with related audits where appropriate

  • Serves as a liaison with the insurance broker, supporting timely renewals, application submissions, claim notifications and premium payments.

  • Develops, organizes, and facilitates employee training programs, including digital modules (via Workday / related platforms) and live sessions with campus partners

  • Monitors training completion and maintain accurate records to support compliance and professional development.  Communicates with management regarding training records where appropriate

  • Assists in the creation, implementation, and review of policies and procedures related to human resources, and aids in the employee education efforts through scheduled communications and training sessions as appropriate

  • Assists with HR functions related to benefits administration as a cross-training objective.

  • Provides general administrative support to the HR department, including records management and employee inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years appropriate experience.

  • Appropriate graduate coursework or master’s degree may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in human resources or university setting

  • Ability to function in fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects and adhere to deadlines

  • Proficient computer skills including experience with Workday and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail

Due to the nature/scope of Athletics and Athletics events, position may require work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to stand / walk for extended periods of time and occasional travel.
