Summary:
University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) is seeking an experienced individual to lead and expand our Women's Volleyball program as the head coach. The successful head coach must be able to articulate a vision to develop the program to compete for conference championships while maintaining its strong academic achievement. The coach teaches, develops, manages, implements, and advances the women's volleyball program within the philosophy, objectives, policies, and guidelines of NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and Department of Athletics at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). The Head Women's Volleyball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach and instruct advanced level skills, techniques, and game strategies inherent in the highest level of competitive play; develop UIS women’s volleyball student-athletes to successful competitive achievements.
Mentor women's volleyball student-athletes on and off the court and monitor academic performance and progress, teaching student-athletes skills for academic and life-long learning.
Accountable for compliance with all NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference rules; including submission of all compliance forms, adherence to all compliance policies and procedures, and attendance of mandatory NCAA rules education sessions. Instruct UIS women's volleyball assistant coaching staff and women's volleyball student-athletes on applicable NCAA compliance education.
Responsible for a strategic vision for success and administration of the UIS women’s volleyball program including budgeting, strategic planning, organizing, and reconciling volleyball accounts to ensure expenditures compliant with budget.
Recruit highly successful women’s volleyball student-athletes who are both physically and academically talented, who represent UIS and Department of Athletics with good character, and who strive to graduate from UIS.
Responsible for scheduling, organizing, and conducting practices and competitions, including team travel.
Identify, manage, mentor, and oversee ethical and talented UIS women’s volleyball assistant coaching staff.
Collaborate with athletic training staff, academic support personnel, strength and conditioning, compliance staff, and other campus personnel to enhance and support UIS women’s volleyball student-athlete experience.
Responsible for fundraising, marketing, promotion, and alumni and community engagement of UIS women’s volleyball and Department of Athletics at UIS.
Coordinate volleyball camps/clinics in an effort to increase local and regional exposure of UIS and UIS volleyball.
Attend GLVC, UIS, and Department of Athletics meetings as scheduled; hold office hours on campus in The Recreation and Athletic Center, and complete required NCAA and UIS training.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the department’s strategic goals and on-going initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Proven volleyball coaching experience for a minimum of three years. An understanding of NCAA Division II regulations. Demonstrated success in developing student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferences will be given to candidates with advanced degrees, a tenure of successful collegiate coaching experience with a proven record of recruiting talented and academically qualified student-athletes.

Demonstrated ability in skill instruction, practice and game plan development, academic monitoring and development of student-athletes, fundraising and public relations
General administrative skills including budgeting and scheduling
