Position Summary:

 Responsible for assisting the Associate AD - Events, Assistant AD – Facilities, Director – Facilities/Events, Director - Rock Chalk Park, and the Sr. Associate Athletics Director - Operations/Capital Projects with the operations and capital project activities for KU Athletics.


Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

 

  • Assist the Associate AD – Events, Director – Facilities/Events, and the Director - Rock Chalk Park with the planning and management of all athletic events hosted in KU Athletics facilities.

  • Work directly with 3rd party vendors to facilitate, coordinate, organize, schedule and supervise to ensure smooth game management operations.

  • Assist in the management and coordination of special events hosted in KU Athletics facilities.

  • Assist in the coordination of the facility preparation with the Assistant AD - Facilities, and the Trades Supervisors for all athletic events in KU Athletics facilities.

  • Interface with non-departmental support services personnel required for staging athletic events, other departmental events hosted in KU Athletics facilities and facility improvement projects.

  • Maintain facility operation manuals and event operation manuals for the Athletic Facilities and Events office.

  • Serve as game manager for assigned sports and assist with the game management and operations of all other athletic events. (Baseball primary; Secondary for Indoor Track, Swimming, Cross Country, Rowing)

  • Serve as facility manager for assigned facilities and assist with the facility management for other facilities as assigned. (Baseball primary, Swimming Pool, Boat House)

  • Serve as back-up for electronic locks systems, including maintenance, coordination, and data management.

  • Oversee expired or unused asset management program including inventory and sales.

  • Assist with the management of the Graduate Assistant, Interns and Student Workers in Facilities/Events

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

   Required Qualifications:      

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in relevant intercollegiate or municipal athletics setting 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task, detail-orientated and ability to work with a diverse group of staff members

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Ability to work evening, weekend and holiday events

 

Preferred Qualifications:      

  • Master’s degree in related field

  • Previous Division I intercollegiate athletic experience in Facilities/Events

 

Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office environment and outside at KAI related events, including inclement weather. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to: cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

This position may require frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; and working in all weather conditions.

 

Travel

Limited travel is expected for this position.

 

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the sports programs and as job duties demand.   Early morning, evening and weekend work is sometimes required.
