
Position Summary:
The intercollegiate athletics program is an integral part of the university striving to achieve the same standards of excellence in athletics that exist within academic programs. The program is concerned with the physical and mental welfare of the student and strives to ensure that every student-athlete has the opportunity to succeed academically and obtain a degree. Sport programs are a vital function of the University at large.
The position will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach for Cross Country/Track and Field in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training and competition with Cross Country/Track & Field. Will also assist with home meet organization, management, set up and other administrative duties as assigned.
Job Duties:
• Candidates must be able to teach proper technique and skill development in various aspects of track & field and cross country.
• Candidates should have a complete and thorough understanding of track & field and cross country and be able to instruct student-athletes in small group and one-on-one settings.
• This position requires the ability to help recruit potential student-athletes.
• Candidates must have the ability to successfully impart track-specific knowledge and cross country and student-athletes.
• Previous coaching and/or playing experience on the college level is highly desired.
• The ability to identify and recruit student-athletes is required.
• This position requires well-developed communication skills, as well as strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings is required.
• This position requires extensive travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Two (2) years minimum coaching experience at the collegiate level.
