
Job Summary
The Assistant Athletics Director is responsible for scheduling, supervising and administering athletic events and non-athletic events in athletic facilities at UTSA. The Assistant Athletics Director provides professional administration, direction, and supervision in the reservation, set-up, and maintenance of athletic facilities.
Core Responsibilities
Provides for reservation of athletic facilities for the Athletic Department.
Submits and processes work orders and events, maintenance and repair; purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment, and requests for academic services equipment.
Responsible for inventory of capital assets including but not limited to computers, athletic equipment, furniture, painting, and vehicles.
Provides supervision of staff overseeing equipment room and gymnasiums.
Provides inventory control of kinesiology class equipment.
Conducts inspections of athletic facilities for on-going maintenance.
Provides event management responsibilities prior to and on game day.
Collaborates with the Special Events Office with reservation processing.
Conducts OneCard transactions and balancing.
Acts as department liaison to the physical plant.
Provides for the storage of department records.
Coordinates with office moves of computers, furniture, and telephones.
Attends administrative staff and department meetings.
Partners with stakeholders to coordinate NCAA Regional tournaments and final four events.
Acts as game/event administrator in absence of senior athletic directors.
Provides physical setup of facilities for department banquets, socials and special meetings.
Manages and develops all athletic facility related budgets.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Three (3) years of related work experience.
This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic NCAA rules
Basic knowledge of State purchasing procedures
Knowledge of facility management
Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office suite, desktop, publishing software, and standard office equipment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions
Office Environment. After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
